Mercy Watson

Mercy Watson by Kate DiCamillo is adorable series that is perfect for early readers. My children absolutely loved this series when they were younger.

Mr. and Mrs. Watson own a pig named Mercy. In the first book, they are all asleep in bed together dreaming wonderful dreams when a loud noise wakes them up. A hole is opening in the floor and Mr. and Mrs. Watson need someone to rescue them. Mercy jumps out of bed to head to the kitchen for something to eat. Mr. and Mrs. Watson believe she has gone to get help. Not finding what she wants, Mercy goes to the neighbor’s house. Ms. Lincoln calls the fire department thinking there is a monster outside their window, but the sister Eugenia realizes it is just Mercy. After some fun mishaps, the firemen ending saving Mr. and Mrs. Watson and the credit goes to Mercy.
